Final Project: Progress Blog 11 13

Here are some images from the operation panel of my demented brain surgery scene. I think this scene is going to be the most difficult to illustrate because of the sheer amount of content within this one shot. It's an establishing shot from the doorway of the operating room. I want to embody the true creepiness I desire within this one panel.

Final Project Process Blog 1

Progress

Here are three pieces of my final project that will eventually be put together in a graphic novel style storyboard. Each of these features an image from a different panel. I'll finish with 6 panels total and am working on all of them simultaneously. Recently I decided to only work in black and white. I'm choosing this color selection as a tribute to the graphic novels that inspired me to even pursue this project.

Storyboard Narrative (description)

For my final project I'd like to effectively create a storyboard that outlines a horror story. The scene is meant to evoke a menacing, dark, and terrible cloud of despair into the hearts of those who view it. This piece will focus on an abandoned mental hospital that has been converted into a twisted sort of fusion between science and torture.

Blood and gore are awesome and I've always been drawn to the ways that death and mutilation are displayed in graphic novels. I'd like to emulate a black and white, very grisly and untamed, graphic novel type illustration. Definitely black and white, but along the way I may feel the need to include red for the blood.

I'll be using a fusion of hand sketches, adobe illustrator shapes, and photoshop edits for the construction of my storyboard. My challenge will be creating a uniform style between all the frames. I believe I have internalized each frame as a different piece and so stringing the mood of the entire piece together will require some attention to detail.

LATE: Jack Nicholson GIF

Just me messing around with the infamous Jack Nicholson.

progress blog. rough storyboard for final project proposal.

So, I've got this rough sketch of a storyboard that I want to use as the basis for my final project. The storyboard is a six panel display of an eerie brain surgery/ brain extraction. Each panel is meant to progress the story from introduction of the setting, to the final image of the extracted brain on the table.
